Q: My focus right now is losing weight and looking better. I don't have joint pain at this time. I work 12 hour night shifts and so I struggle with the motivation to exercise routinely and know the best times to eat. Any suggestions?
I understand how hard it is to eat right and have the right energy levels to exercise AND stay well. Also, missing sleep definitely takes it’s toll on your body and your hormone levels.
I would advise to “eat for what you are going to be doing next” What that means is to stick to protein and healthy fats, limit starchy carbs to days that you will be more active and eat them early in the day so they won’t be stored as fat. Protein with every meal is important and healthy fats will give you more energy , so don’t be afraid to eat a decent amount of them. Carbs from simple sources like bread, pasta, rice and anything processed will make the weight not budge.
Fill your plate with vegetables and protein, healthy fats and you will effortlessly see the weight start to come off.
