Question: Core exercises for post surgery from abdominal hernia.
It was quite a journey you have there. Please be informed that your doctor will give you a schedule explaining how long you should wait before exercising and suggestions for recommended exercises. Every person is different, the size of your hernia, the complexity of the repair, your physical condition before surgery and your sensitivity to pain will all determine how much you can do and how soon.
For now, Rick has no program specific for people who has undergone surgery due to abdominal hernia. But you can do deep breathing exercise as your simple and effective way to strengthen core if your doctor approves it. You can check this link from EFI website: http://exercisesforinjuries.com/?s=core&x=0&y=0
After that, you can do pelvic tilts, glute bridge and planks at your own risk because some people are greater risk for incisional hernia that means the surgical correction could tear and your hernia could come back.
Before doing such exercise, asked your doctor first on the following exercise and wait for your doctor's approval. When doing heavy lifting, please take note to always use good body mechanics.
I hope this information has helped you!
