If you have severe forward head posture you will need to accommodate it by using a supportive neck pillow or memory foam pillow with good neck support. A supportive neck pillow can help prevent a sore neck and by accommodating the posture you can prevent muscle strain but be mindful not to exacerbate the posture. Supportive neck pillows follow the curvature of your head and neck. Your head falls in the middle of the pillow and your neck is thoroughly supported with a curved section at the bottom of the pillow. Sleeping on one pillow is ideal but it takes some time to get used to. It may take some time to get used to, but as you work on your posture make sure to assess as well if the pillow is able to accommodate your neck’s curve. This is where memory foam pillows can be of help since it adapts on changing cervical curve. It is also important to ensure that you do not sleep with multiple pillows. By sleeping on multiple pillows, you push your neck forward and in an unnatural upright position. The trick is using the pillow as a means of supporting, promoting neutral alignment of your spine as much as possible but it really depends on your posture and sleeping position.
